ABSTRACT
Objective:
This study aims to adapt Parent-Child Relationship Scale measuring parent child relationship quality based on positivity and negativity dimensions, and to test the reliability and validity of the Turkish version of the scale.
Method:
The sample included a total of 406 mothers of 4 to 13-years-old children. Sociodemographic Information Form, Parent Support Scale, Parent-Child Relationship Scale and Parenting Style Scale were used in the study. Factor analysis, correlation analysis, and construct validity analysis (convergent validity and discriminant validity) were conducted using confi rmatory factor analysis in AMOS.
Results:
The Turkish version of the scale has also two-factors as the original scale. The construct validity analysis was satisfactory for two-factor structure. In addition, composite reliability and test-retest results demonstrated the reliability of the scale.
Discussion:
In all, this study was thought to contribute to the fi eld by adapting a reliable and valid scale that measure quality of parent child relationship.
